Food Friday - Open Air Dining
3rd August 2023
From seafront restaurants to cliffside cafes, we’ve picked out some of our top restaurants in Weston-super-Mare with outdoor seating. All we've got to do now is keep our fingers crossed for sunny days…
The Old Thatched Cottage
Weston’s oldest building, The Old Thatched Cottage, dates back to 1774 and is the town’s only remaining thatched roof. Oozing olde worlde character, alongside its modern beach-facing terrace area, the family-run restaurant prides itself on top-notch seafood and delectable steaks. Pre-book an outdoor dining table to guarantee a firepit for your group, then kick back in the picturesque surroundings, just a stone’s throw from the beach.
Bistrot Pierre
Bistrot Pierre serves up French-inspired food for breakfast, lunch and dinner in its seafront location. Head upstairs to the circular outside balcony for panoramic sea views while you dine. Great for pre-theatre nosh, bargainous lunchtime specials and picture perfect sunset views.
Il Michelangelo’s
For incredible Italian dishes, impeccable service and a lovely, large outside seating area that is sheltered from the wind, make a beeline for Michelangelo’s. The restaurant, bedecked with classical Michelangelo-style murals is located right on the seafront and overlooks Knightstone Island. Inside, their team of Italian chefs create imaginative dishes and award-winning pizza and pasta - soak up the rays and enjoy a taste of Italy in the open-air.
Revo
With arguably one of the best views in Weston, Revo kitchen and Terrace gazes over miles of Bristol Channel and our sandy beach from its pier-top spot on Weston's 'third pier.' Open from breakfast until bedtime, you’ll find brunch classics, toasties, pizzas, burgers, quesadilla stacks, afternoon tea and more to tuck into while you devour that scenery. Best of all, you can enjoy your grub on their outdoor terrace, alongside flickering firepits.
The Crown, Churchill
If you are looking for the perfect country pub with amazing countryside views, The Crown at Churchill is the ideal spot. Grab a table outside the front and gaze out over Somerset or grab somewhere out the back and admire the beautiful gardens. This oldie-worldie pub has low ceilings, big fires in the winter and the best pub-grub around (the cauliflower cheese is our favourite but remember to let it cool down before you tuck in). The bar is fully stocked with tonnes of local ale and cider and the staff are super-friendly.
The Nut Tree, Worle
The Nut Tree in Worle is a gastropub that serves up delicious British dishes, good real ale on tap and a great wine list with friendly service. For parents looking for some pub action with kids in tow, there’s a decent sized beer garden with outdoor dining tables and a children’s play area.
The Woolpack Inn, St George
The Woolpack Inn is a family-run pub serving tasty homemade food, excellent wood fired pizzas and fantastic Greek food. The large outdoor space here means it's popular with locals when the sun is shining and they’ve just added a funky firepit area, that’s perfect for al fresco drinks with friends. There’s also a farm shop/deli here should you need to stock up on gorgeous groceries before you head home!
South Sands Hotel in Sand Bay
Just north of Weston-super-Mare, the independent South Sands hotel offers laid-back, outdoor dining a stone’s throw from Sand Bay. With lots of live music events come summer, you’ll want to bag a spot for drinks and nibbles on the terrace, after a stroll on the nearby beach.
