Is Weston-super-Mare worth visiting?
Weston-super-Mare is jam-packed with interesting and fun-places to visit all year-round. We've got beautiful walks, a huge sandy beach, Europe's biggest helicopter museum, the Grand Pier with its rides, arcades and attractions and Banksy's pinwheel in the town museum.
Weston-super-Mare is great family seaside resort with a huge sandy beach and donkeys in the summer. There's also an all-year-round safe-swimming beach at Marine Lake, where the water is always in even when the tide is out. There's also the dog walkers' favourite Uphill Beach which has amassed more than 23million views on Tik Tok and was crowned the UK's best dog walking beach in 2023. In addition, there's a lovely rocky cove at Anchor Head and the Windzone watersports and land yachting area at the South, or Royal Sands end of the beach.
Is Weston-super-Mare good for children?
There's loads for children to see and do in Weston-super-Mare. Our Grand Pier is packed with rides, arcades and entertainment and we've also got the indoor Laser Quest centre, ten-pin bowling, donkeys on the beach in the summer, a childrens' water park, adventure high ropes and an indoor climbing wall.
Whisper it quietly because it is one of our best-kept secrets, but Weston-super-Mare makes a fantastic base for a walking holiday far away from the hordes who rush through to visit Devon and Cornwall. The town is wrapped by glorious countryside and many of the walks can be done without the need of a car. The stunning Mendip Hills are also nearby.

Weston-super-Mare is brilliant for a night out. It's awash with great pubs from real ale pubs to sports bars and from karaoke and live music bars to gastro pubs and even a boozer crammed full of board games. It also has two theatres, two cinemas and two fringe theatres. There is also a vibrant live music scene and comedy circuit.
Is Weston-super-Mare easy to get to?
Weston-super-Mare is easy to get to with a railway station and coach hub close to the town centre and beach. Bristol is around 30 minutes away by train and there is a direct bus from Weston to Bristol Airport.
People come from all over the country to see the Weston-super-Mare carnival. It is the west country's answer to the Rio Carnival. Held in November each year, it features huge and extravagantly-decorated carts with thousands of bright lights on, putting on an exciting must-see FREE procession for thousands of spectators.
Rain doesn't have to stop play in Weston-super-Mare because we have got lots of indoor attractions. There's the Grand Pier with all its rides, games, Go-Karts, dodgems and arcades under one roof. We've got Europe's biggest helicopter museum where most of the exhibits are housed in a giant hangar, there's the indoor Clip 'n' Climb climbing centre with its Leap of Faith experience and the UK's largest vertical drop slide. There's also ten-pin bowling while Banksy's pinwheel is nice and dry in the town's museum. Alternatively, if you really want to escape the rain, venture deep underground into the caves at Wookey Hole or Cheddar.

What is Weston-super-Mare like for parking?
There is plenty of paid-for parking in Weston-super-Mare including on the beach parking as advised by attendants - imagine your childrens' excitement as you park the car complete with picnic hamper right on the sand. There's also a MIPermit app that you can download to pay for parking before your visit.
Weston is a really accessible seaside town. It has a two-mile long flat promenade which is excellent for mobility scooters and wheelchairs both of which can be hired in the town. There is also a free-to-hire beach wheelchair which means that wheelchair users can get onto the sand and enjoy a beach day with their families. Mobility scooters can be hired from Dalesway on Carlton Street which is close to the seafront.
Can you have a barbecue on the beach?
BBQs are allowed on the beach, however they need to be raised off the ground and disposed of appropriately. Please ensure they are cold before disposing. BBQs are not permitted on parks across North Somerset.
There are several EV charging units in Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding North area so you don't have to worry that you won't have enough juice to get back home again.
You don't need to have a car to have a great break or holiday in Weston-super-Mare because there's an excellent bus service. You can easily catch a bus to the unspoilt quiet beach of Sand Bay with its delightful walks up on Sand Point and you can also get a bus to the neighbouring beach of Burnham with all the excitement of the Brean Splash waterpark and the Brean Thrill Park. You can also easily head inland to the beautiful and historic city of Wells and visit the breahttaking Cheddar Gorge all by bus.
