After a weeks relay around the 26 stores on Tesco group 48 covering 270 miles Macmillans Muggy mascot will arrive on the Grand Pier to help in an attempt at a world record for the most people to have a cream tea mass participation event. Muggy will have been on all types of transport on his travels starting in Weston-super-Mare on Friday 23rd September. He will travel down trough Somerset and into Devon making his way back into Somerset on up to Bristol & South Gloucester and returning back to Weston-super-Mare on Friday 30th September ready to be sat down for his cream tea at 10am.He will be helped along the way by Tesco colleagues who are currently holding activities in their stores to raise as much money for Macmillan as they can.
The Tesco team are delighted that the Grand Pier will host the record attempt on Friday 30th September. The cream teas are free and the Grand Pier team will donate all the entry money for those participating in the event to Macmillan. We are aiming for 750 people.
To help with official ratification registering will be necessary, more details to follow, this guarantees your place at the event, however, we can accommodate drop ins on the day up to our target of 750 people.
There will be various fund raising activities on the day including a raffle and in the Mercury on Thursday 28th September a token that enters you into a raffle to wiin a TV.
If you are going to come along we would ask that you be on the Pier in the main hall at 0930 to get seated ready for a 10am start. Look forward to seeing you there!
