About Us
The Tropicana is an iconic seafront landmark and a hub of arts and culture right on Weston-super-Mare's seafront.
This unique venue has hosted such global superstars as Hollywood legends Laurel and Hardy and world-renowned street artist Banksy over the decades. It now offers a dynamic and flexible indoor and outdoor events space suitable for a diverse range of art forms, such as live music, makers markets, comedy, award evenings and themed balls, events and exhibitions. The venue also offers catering tailored to suit any type of event.
In the summer of 2015 ‘Dismaland’ Bemusement Park, an art installation curated by the world famous street artist Banksy opened to the public for a five week period. The sinister twist on Disneyland featured original works by Banksy and 58 other artists including Damien Hirst and attracted over 150,000 visitors from all over the world.
The following Summer, the renaissance of the Tropicana continued as it transformed into the pop-up amusement park ‘Funland’, welcoming thousands of visitors to enjoy its thrills and spills.
In 2022 the Tropicana was chosen as one of ten locations across the country to host a flagship, national arts and culture installation. SEE MONSTER was the world’s first and only repurposed North Sea offshore platform and the largest installation ever seen in Weston-super-Mare. Standing at 35-metres tall, the installation wowed visitors from all over the globe.
Now the Tropicana is flourishing as an indoor and outdoor entertainment venue holding a host of events during 2024.
It will temporarily close for refurbishment in the winter of 2024 before coming back even bigger and stronger.
