About Us
Clarence Park is a lovely park located just off the seafront at the Southern end of the promenade. It has paved paths throughout, making it accessible for everyone. It provides a tranquil and convenient spot for both visitors and locals alike.
The park is bisected by Walliscote Road. The west side of the park, nearest the sea front, has a number of facilties. There are flower beds, a pond with a fountain, plenty of benches, and a childrens play area. There are also plenty of mature trees which provide welcome shade on a hot day. There is also a popular cafe in the middle of the park and a public toilet. Dogs on leads are permitted in this part of the park.
The park is a great place to watch the very friendly squirrels.
The park is effectively split into two with Walliscote Road cutting through it.
The top end of the park, which is the one furthest from the beach, offers a large and flat grassed area where dogs are permitted. This end of the park also offers a little bit of cricketing history. Until 1996, Somerset County Cricket Club played their festival matches in this park and one of their most famous ever players, West Indian Viv Richards, smashed a double century there (204) against Surrey while Sir Ian Botham claimed a fifer on the ground.
