About Us
Yes it is happening this year and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever!!Uphill Castle CC are over the moon to announce the details of this year’s BIG BASH. A lot of hard work and planning has gone into this year’s Bash to make sure it’s the biggest and best yet.
The day will still be run as the original music and cricket festival with 6 teams completing for the BB Plate. Teams this year include – Uphill Castle. Weston Super Mare, Belvedere, Hornets, The Dolphin and the ever successful Strugglers!
All teams will be playing in coloured kit and using the now famous pink balls. We happy to announce, with help from club sponsors Weston Cider, we will also be running a cider festival to running in conjunction with The Big Bash.
There will be music all day from DJ Ed Bliss! Helping to keep the tempo and the party atmosphere up all day long and late into the night.
Food outlets will also be open all day, details of which will be announced in the coming weeks.
The evening will also see Uphill Castle provide you with the best entertainment on offer in Weston Super Mare for a bank holiday Sunday!
We are proud to announce our best ever line up of music for the The Big Bash. The line-up this year includes –
Pretty Soul
Made up of former members of the band The Stanleys, and Uphill Castle favourite Jordan Evans. This band will have your warmed up and ready to go all night long.
The Leylines
Uphill Castle are so proud to have these guys playing, a massive honour to have this soon to be huge band on The Big Bash line up!
British folk-punk for a summer’s afternoon, a sound forged in festivals and bonfires, with fiddle-driven rabble rousers and songs that stir the soul.
The Leylines was started by a group of West Country musicians driving home from a session at the legendary Sawmills studios. Levelling The Land by The Levellers was on the car stereo. Something about the sound of the record, the rolling Cornish landscapes and the smell of summer connected in vocalist Steve’s head.
Steve, a product of council estates and stints in the Army, put his observations on the state of the nation into music and started writing. Adding the different musical backgrounds of band mates Matt (guitar), Pete (bass), Dave (drums) and Hannah (violin), The Leylines have created a style that combines the acerbic social commentary of Paul Weller with a folk-rock vibe that will send you right back to those long, hazy, festival days.
The band saying: “If you wouldn’t go out and have a drink with someone, don’t work with them.”
The Leylines are guaranteed to have audiences up on their feet, and they will be having as much fun as the audience while they’re doing it!
The Cherry Rebels
A great energetic rock band from the south wales valleys. We consist of 4 members:-
Leon - while slappin da bass, he also brings to the group his 'Growling' lead vocals and a lot of double denim.
Tom - rocking out on rhythm guitar and caressing your ears with his beautiful harmonies.
Rhys - this guy just loves to bang hard!, ...on his drums ;)
Aaron - this lead guitarists solos apparently can physically blow minds!
They shall be bringing you an array of songs from Chuck Berry, Rolling Stones to Black Sabbath and Foo Fighters.. plus loads more! sooo... what are you waiting for?...
Bank holidays don’t get much bigger than this, and this years BIG BASH is gonna be HUGE.
