RENT - The Musical

WODS Musical Theatre Company are excited to announce their return to The Blakehay Theatre this Spring with the rock opera RENT.
Loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's 1896 opera La Bohème. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in Lower Manhattan's East Village in the thriving days of bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
RENT encapsulates the life of its creator Johnathan Larson, who himself lived, breathed, and struggled to make ends meet in late 1990’s. RENT is full of a colourful array of characters that all have trials and tribulations they are having to face, but the one thing that ties them all together being that “Love can Heal” even the most painful of situations.
WODS Musical Theatre Company have many award-winning productions under their belt and RENT is definitely going to be another theatrical event not to be missed!
