About Us
We are looking for singers to join us for a very special project this autumn. Whether you've been part of Terrestrial's singing workshops before, or have only just discovered us, we'd love to hear from you.We are working with acclaimed composer and choir leader Verity Standen to bring to life some wonderful, playful original music as part of our festival in Weston-super-Mare, taking place 14-17 November.
Verity has been working (alongside filmmaker Adam Laity) to interview a group of older people from Worle - each of whom have remarkable stories to tell. Now she has written a series of choral songs inspired by these people's stories, and we're staging a 'Voices of Worle' concert and film screening as part of our festival of events.
Open to anyone aged 16+. You don't need any previous singing experience (although if you are keen on complex harmonies there are plenty of juicy parts for you to take on). And there's no written music as Verity teaches everything by ear.
In between learning the original music, Verity and her team of professional singers will lead a series of exercises and games, and teach some other songs just for fun along the way.
You don't need to attend every rehearsal, though we are looking for people to make at least some commitment over the next few weeks so we can create something really powerful together. Come along and try it out, and if you have any questions please email hello@terrestrial.org.uk
Rehearsals: Sundays 2.30-5pm (20th & 27th Oct, 3rd & 10th Nov) and Wednesday evenings (30th, 6th & 13th)
Performances (tbc): Friday 15 & Saturday 16 November.
