About Us
Following their performance of the all-time classic, Oliver!, WODS Musical Theatre Company is proud to return to the Blakehay theatre with “Made In Dagenham”; making its debut appearance in Weston-super-Mare.
Based on the 2010 film of the same name, Made In Dagenham is drawn from the real-life 1968 sewing machinists’ strikes at the Ford factory in Dagenham, Essex. The musical staring Gemma Arterton premiered at the Adelphi Theatre in the West End in October 2014, with the cast performing a short extract on the BBC’s Children In Need later that year.
The musical centres on the leader of the strike, Rita O’Grady, as she encourages the other factory women to walk out after they are re-classified as unskilled workers. Determined not to be treated like the ‘poor relation’, the women vote unanimously to strike and lead “Everybody Out”.
However, Rita’s efforts don’t come alone. She risks her marriage, family and friendships… will she give up before reaching life changing success?
With music by David Arnold and lyrics by Richard Thomas, this musical is bound to get you dancing in your seats – including company numbers such as “Made In Dagenham”, “This Is What We Want”, “Stand Up” and many more, it’s a show not to be missed!
