About Us
The Blakehay Theatre was originally the Wadham Street Baptist Church. The building closed as a place of worship in 1985 and was saved from demolition and replacement with a block of flats in 1986 by the actions of Weston Civic Society. It was then converted into a venue for amateur and professional events and public meetings. In April 2004 the Weston-super-Mare Town Council purchased the theatre and has managed the theatre for the last 10 years. Over the decade the theatre has been refurbished and has developed into a fantastic small theatre for the town that continues to thrive.
We feel that this is a big achievement when lots of theatres throughout the country are closing for business. We hope that you will join us in celebrating our 10th anniversary year with our special offers and discounts.
