The Neanderthal people were nomadic hunter-gatherers who lived in Britain during the Ice Age. The result of new scientific research on these early hominids never fails to be reported in the newspapers! Around 45,000 years ago they came to Uphill which lay near the western limit of their world. This walk sheds some light on these elusive beings by making reference to their stone artefacts from caves in Uphill Quarry.
Meet at Quarry Corner at the junction between Uphill Way and Links Road in the village of Uphill.
Steep gradients and rough ground.
