About Us
Produced by BBC Learning as part of the ‘Dish Up’ campaign, the event aims to make cooking fun and accessible for the whole family. This free event will take place at the Beach Lawns, Weston-super-Mare Seafront and will offer young audiences (aimed at six years and under) the chance to meet some of their favourite CBeebies stars and take part in an array of free activities.Headlining the event are special guests Phoebe Furchester-Fuzz and Furgus Fuzz from The Furchester Hotel. They will take to the stage with an exciting live show called ‘Kitchen Catastrophe’. Visitors will have the chance to see what goes on in the kitchen of the ‘almost world class hotel with a half star rating’ in this interactive performance. There will be singing, problem solving, and a guest chef to cook up some monster food!
JB Gill, former JLS singer turned farmer will be a guest chef in ‘Kitchen Catastrophe’ and he said: “I’m passionate about farming and where our food and ingredients come from. My style of cooking is easy and fun for the whole family- dishes that can be whipped up at the end of a busy day. I’m excited about getting into the kitchen with those furry monsters Furgus and Phoebe, there’ll be lots of audience interaction so make sure you bring your singing voices!”
Aaron Craze, star of CBBC’s Junior Bake Off and graduate from Jamie Oliver's 'Fifteen' restaurant, will also be a guest chef (alternate shows) and he says “I’m looking forward to visiting Weston-super-Mare and sharing some of my tasty tips with families. I really enjoy cooking at home with my daughters and have found there are so many ways children can get involved in the kitchen. I can’t wait to cook up some Furchester inspired dishes at the event – it’s going to be fun!”
The event is free, and tickets are ONLY required for the ‘Kitchen Catastrophe’ stage show. Tickets are NOT required for general admittance to the wider event or any of the other activities. Visitors can turn up with their children any day between 10am and 5pm (site capacity dependent).
You can apply for tickets for ‘Kitchen Catastrophe’ performances through BBC Shows and Tours from Friday 19 June until Tuesday 7 July, and tickets will be allocated in a random draw from July 9 onwards. To apply for tickets please visit bbc.co.uk/showsandtours.
Elsewhere at the event, there will be a fun-packed selection of un-ticketed activities all designed to inspire, excite and encourage cooking at home and having fun in the kitchen, as well as learning more about healthy eating and where our food comes from.
There will be an outdoor CBeebies stage with entertaining performances rolling throughout the day. Presenters Rebecca Keatley from Let’s Play (Wed & Thurs only), and Dr Ranj from Get Well Soon (Friday, Saturday and Sunday only), will lead the audience through a programme of live stage performances, games, and interactive storytelling and music.
Rastamouse and Da Easy Crew will be skating into Weston-super-Mare with co-creator Michael De Souza for a musical storytelling extravaganza, celebrating rhythm, reading, and music. Visitors can 'bust some moves' with Rastamouse, Scratchy and Zoomer as they take centre stage and dance along to their very own ‘cookin’ and 'jammin’ inspired songs.
CBeebies favourite Acro Chefs display their acrobatic skills and ask you to join in with their cooking inspired routine.
Other activities on offer across the event include: make and shake your own Easy Peasy Ice Cream, Dig, discover and guess the vegetable, play the new online Furchester Food Game, or even design your very own Rastamouse themed pizza!
