About Us

Weston super Mare Golf Club is an attractive links course situated on the coast, at the southern end of Weston-super-Mare Seafront and we are blessed with an all year round course, with views across the Bristol Channel, Steep Holm and Flat Holm towards Cardiff.

The course offers a challenging test of links golf, requiring accurate shots in order to achieve a good score and Par. Weston Golf Club has an average Par of 70 and when combined, the total course is 6,245 yards.

The course is an easy walk, with generous fairways and the wind often playing a decisive role in making a good score. The overall impression when playing the course is of wide horizons and masses of sky. In summer the greens are fast and true; the fairways tight and the rough punishing. In winter the course is rarely closed and is always played off real tees. Temporary greens are used occasionally when hard frosts prevail.

The signature hole is the 15th – a 458 yard par 4 which is reputably modelled on the 17th at St Andrews Old Course, with a blind tee shot and out of bounds down the right, and the green set at an angle to the treacherous bunker at the front corner. It is always satisfying to get a par here! The 15th is also the start of the tough finish; followed by the Par 3 16th into the prevailing wind; the dog leg Par 5 17th and the tricky par 4 18th with out of bounds on the right and back of the green and heavy bunkers to the left, meaning that you are often laying up short in two then hoping for a chip and a putt for your par.

It is also renowned for its easy walks, fabulous fairways and difficult angles making it the ideal choice for beginner, amateur and professional golfers alike.

The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse was officially opened in April 1905, with improvements made in the 1920s. There are bar and dinning facilities together with  Men’s and Ladies’ locker rooms. We have conference facilities available for up to 40, with over head projector, TV, wipe board and flip chart. It provides a wide selection  of bars: either the more relaxed spike bar of the Royal Sands Bar, or the Links Lounge, which adjoins the MacKenzie Dining Room. All offering a wide selection of Real Ales, Beers, Wines and spirits. The 2 chefs and their restaurant staffs offer a varied menu from a traditional breakfast to a substantial choice of meals, including light bites and sandwiches. Food is served daily from 10.00am until late afternoon.

Private Functions

The Lounge Bar is an ideal venue for private functions – perhaps a wedding reception or anniversary dinner or for celebrating a special birthday. Andy and his team can be reached on 01934 62 69 68. The catering provided is second to none and all occasions can be catered for.

Weston-super-Mare Golf Club History

Established in 1892, Weston super Mare Golf Club has been an ever-present fixture on the UK circuit for over 100 years and the Clubhouse, which was opened in 1905, still has some of the original features from when it first opened all them years ago.

Thanks to its excellent drainage, the course is rarely closed due to rain. Temporary greens are seldom used unless there's an early morning frost, and trolley bans are a rarity.

Weston Golf Club also offers lessons with Head PGA Professional - Ben Lock for both beginners, amateurs, groups and professional players. It also has well-stocked shop and repair facility that will appeal to the most discerning golfer!

Back in 2007, the bar and dining facilities underwent major refurbishment to the delight of its members. This refurbishment has now allowed for additional functions such as special occasions and business events to be catered for in the presence of its beautiful and historic surroundings.
