About Us
At All Saints Church, Roma Triumphans - eighteenth century sacred music from the Eternal City with strings and continuo.
Costanzi Consort directed by Peter Leech will perform their summer concert on 25 June. Roma Triumphans (Rome Triumphant), will be an exciting showcase of wonderful eighteenth-century sacred music by Giovanni Battista Casali (1715-1792), juxtaposed with music by his contemporary Giovanni Costanzi (our namesake) and the Novarese nun Isabella Leonarda. Ahead of our landmark Casali recording project in September, the performance will include select works from his vast output (most of which is almost completely unknown and scarcely ever performed), all transcribed from original manuscript sources. Ranging from small-scale unaccompanied four-part motets through to a double-choir Ave Maria and concertato settings of Vespers psalms with instrumental accompaniment, this uplifting feast of sacred music will transport you to the vast churches and broad sunny piazzas of eighteenth-century Rome.
