Movement and Text Improvisation Workshop for Actors, Dancers, and Performers.
If you are interested in developing skills in improvisation to create movement, imagery, and text for performance, then come to this creative workshop. The focus will be on an embodied approach to creating imagery derived from themes related to Dust Ensemble's current production Goat Song.
The immersive work fosters a playful open approach to exploring dynamics, interconnections, and impulses that relate to themes to explore ideas that arise from the individual within the ensemble. The work will be energetic and focus on the body in a somatic warm-up to connect to the sensory and kinetic body.
Music is vital to exploring feelings and releasing individual responses through movement. The workshop will explore ensemble improvisation through interactions with texts, objects, and imagery to generate ideas in an emergent process. There will be opportunities to work in smaller groupsand pairs to construct movement/text scores and explore composition in creating imagery/text.
Dust Ensemble was formed in 2023 by Artistic director Mary Steadman. Mary has over 30 years of experience devising, performing and teaching workshops nationally and internationally.
