So whether it's a quiet pint you want, a glass with a sea view, footy in front of a big screen, or a drink with live music or comedy thrown in... we've got the lot here in Weston-super-Mare.
And if you think we're joking. How about this. We've even got a pub with 700 board games for you to play.
Weston is packed with amazing pubs – but if it’s real ale you want then you’ve come to the right place.
For years people have been saying Weston-super-Mare should have a Real Ale Trail to celebrate its great real hostelries so here at Visit Weston we have only gone and done it.
We’ve taken the bull by the horns, we’ve listened to what you wanted and with the help of Pinkers Craft Brewery we’ve created the long overdue Weston Ale Trail.
Featuring a magnificent seven super town centre pubs all within easy walking distance of each other we’ve come up with a route which we know pint sinkers will love.
The independent watering holes are all varied and have a character of their own but they have one thing in common – they serve well-kept great beer.
And throughout our ale trail month of February, 2024, they will have an extra selection of guest ales on show.
So, what are you waiting for? Print off or download your ale trail map and let’s raise a glass to our first Weston Real Ale Trail.
It doesn’t matter what order you visit the pubs in, but please mention that you are on the Weston Ale Trail when you arrive at the bar, and please drink sensibly. There’s no prizes for visiting all of our seven selected pubs in one day so why not spread the experience over a few days. And from February 9, you will be able to collect one of our free limited-edition ale trail beer maps from the participating pubs.
Thought to be one of the oldest pubs in Weston-super-Mare, so it’s no wonder they know a good pint and how to pour one. This dog-friendly traditional pub is a bit of a locals’ secret but one they are quite happy to share with visitors and this watering hole wears its Cask Marque accreditation with pride.
One visit to The Regency is never enough. Once you’ve found this super country-style pub in the middle of our town you are likely to keep coming back. It has a good selection of real ale and a welcoming vibe which just invites you to sup, stay and savour.
This town centre venue has something of a wine bar feel but real ale connoisseurs can feel right at home here as it is a stockist for some fantastically tasting and imaginatively-named brews from the local Weston-based Pinkers Craft Brewery.
This LocAle accredited quirky micropub is both a cat lovers’ and real ale lovers’ delight. It serves up to six fresh cask ales and has an oft changing beer menu as well as a good selection of ciders.
The micro brewery and tap only opened in Autumn 2023 but it is a fabulous addition to Weston-super-Mare's pub scene. Brewing its own beers this is a great recommendation for anyone who enjoys local craft beer and good company.
Weston’s best-known live music venue is also a huge hit with real ale fans. It’s another Cask Marque and LocAle accredited pub with usually up to five different ales available.
This town centre venue combines the landlord’s twin passions of great food and great beer and does it rather well. There’s usually up to half a dozen excellent beers on tap and the third-of-a-pint taster paddles are a great help when it comes to the difficult decision as to which pint to choose.
And finally we’d like to tap out with a tribute to the Pinkers Craft Brewery who have been so instrumental in helping us put this ale trail together. If, for whatever reason, you cannot get out and about around Weston’s and North Somerset’s atmospheric pubs to sample some of their awesome beers, worry not because Pinkers offer free delivery on a crate of 12 of their craft beers within the local area.
Pubs to watch the football or rugby in
Weston is a great place to catch some live sport on the telly. Six Nations rugby weekends in particular can create a great pub atmosphere with many Welsh fans turning out in their numbers bedecked in their country's colours.
Allstars Sports Bar, just two minutes away from the Grand Pier, has several screens - including a gigantic one which will make you feel as though you are on the pitch itself as you watch the big game.
Raddy's Bar on the seafront is a much smaller bar but is popular with sports fans - and so it should be. It takes its name from Paolo Radmilovic Weston's four-times Olympic gold medallist and five times Olympian who went on to become a publican in the town.
Legends Sports Bar on Wadham Street is a lively sports and music bar showing most of the big matches as well as Formula One motor racing while Vinnie's bar on West Street has a giant screen making it popular with sports fans.
A pub with 700 board games
Monopoly, Scrabble and Cluedo are just for starters at the incredible Stable Games Room. This pub, at 129 High Street, Weston-super-Mare, has 700 board games all available to play for free! All you have to do is buy something at the bar and then play, away, way to your heart's content. It's been described as one of Weston's less known but best date-night venues. It's also popular with families, friends and whenever the weather turns wet.
