About Us
Woodspring Wings Model Aircraft Club will again be holding its popular Annual Model Flying Show over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd July at its airfield on Claverham Drove, North of Yatton. Access from the M5 will be well signposted and parking is free.Building on the success of previous year's shows, the event this year will again include continuous displays by experienced international show pilots, flying single and multi-engine aircraft models depicting aviation throughout the years from early biplanes to modern jet fighters with gas turbine engines, including the celebrated Red Arrows models of Steve & Matt Bishop. The show is complemented by static displays and trade marquees that have been well received and enjoyed by thousands of visitors since the inaugural show in the early 1990's. The club will be running its popular raffle, with cash prizes for the winners to be drawn on Sunday. We always ensure a proportion of the proceeds from the show go to supporting local charities.
Woodspring Wings show is renowned in the hobby for its model flying and once again will be welcoming a wide selection from around the country, with some very large models for visitors to enjoy. In addition, there will also be displays of control line combat models and rockets from members of the United Kingdom Rocketry Association which have proved to be very popular with visitors, though we do have to warn Bristol airport when we fire them! Flying commences at 10.00am and will continue uninterrupted until 5.00pm.
The club flying site offers ample free parking for both cars and caravans and is readily accessible for the less mobile. A food court provides sustenance throughout the day so lunch out is no problem and a bar conveniently situated near the displays offers West country ciders and beers to enjoy. An extensive grassed area has wide views of the displays and an opportunity to sit and relax. The club is looking forward to a repeat of last year's good weather, which will let the thousands of visitors have a really good time.
