This Spring, Weston Choral are happily immersing themselves in the music of modern composing phenomenon Will Todd, who's 'Mass in Blue' has been performed to sell-out audiences across world-wide since its premiere in 2003.The Choir are in the very exciting position of working towards performing this up-beat setting of the mass in Worle on Saturday 8th June 2019 and are absolutely delighted to welcome the composer, (and Bristol University graduate), Will Todd and his ensemble for the performance along with the stunning, talents of mezzo soprano Martha McLorinan, (who has strong links with Weston-super-Mare and has performed as soloist with Tenebrae, the Sixteen and many others).
Also joining Weston Choral to sing Mass in Blue will be Worle Youth Choir.
The concert will be held in the Auditorium of Worle Community School Academy - a fine accoustic and plenty of parking!
'Mass in Blue', Will Todd's flagship work, has brilliant and infectious jazz rhythms and is a truly thrilling experience for singers and audience alike. MIB had its premiere in 2003 and has since been performed hundreds of times all over the world.
With its brilliant blend of driving jazz rhythms, clear strong choral writing, solo soprano voice and jazz trio woven into a fabulous tapestry of sound, 'Mass in Blue' overflows with thrilling and often intensely moving music which satisfies the head, and heart and is sure to set feet tapping!
Along with 'Mass in Blue' the concert on June 8th will also feature Will Todd's beautiful 'Songs of Peace' which were written in memory of the composer's mother and which take a contrasting serene and meditative approach.
