Author Charles Kingsley invented this name for the Victorian ‘craze’ for ferns (Pteridophytes). This walk looks at the ferns of Weston Woods that fuelled this pervasive phenomenon locally. Lists of ferns growing in Weston Woods compiled a century or more ago include species that appear to have disappeared today, or have they?
Meet at the Water Tower in the middle of Weston Woods at the west end of Worlebury Hill Road.
Rough ground and steep gradients.
