About Us
With the closure of meeting places due to the pandemic lock-down many clubs and societies had to quickly adapt to the situation. One such club is the A1 Camera Club who usually meet every Tuesday in the St Georges Community Centre, Weston-super-Mare.Having just finished a beginners training course we had to find a way of keeping the interest and education going for our newest members. This is where the technical expertise of the Club members came into play. Virtual meetings were soon set up with online competitions, critiques and lectures that have extended the Club meeting season into what is usually the summer programme of outside visits. The weekly photographic challenges given to all the members has improved everyone's knowledge and photographic ability. This will be demonstrated in an online exhibition on the Club's website www.a1cameraclubweston.org during August 2020.
Over 70 images will be showcasing the abilities of the members, whose ages range from teenagers to pensioners.
The exhibition replaces our usual free annual display of prints at the Weston Museum. There will be an introduction by the Mayor of Weston-super-Mare, Councillor Mark Canniford and comments by Weston Counties Photographic Federation judge Ralph Snook ARPS, EFIAP/b, DPAGB, who will have picked the best images in his opinion for the 'Best in Show ' trophy. Visitors will also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite image for the 'People's Choice' trophy.
The exhibition runs from August 1st to August 31st on the Club's website and visitors are invited to also browse the images in the member's gallery.
