About Us
Marine Lake is a small cove near to Knightstone Island towards the north of Weston Bay. Refurbished in early 2022, Marine Lake has its own sandy beach and permanently offers sea-water bathing even when the tide is out. You might not know that Weston-super-Mare has the second highest tidal range in the world, so the sea does go a long way out at low tide, see tide times here. Marine Lake's water is replenished every day by the natural high tides and is kept in place by sluices, so there is always water.
It is a dog-free zone throughout the year and there are cafes and loos. You can stroll from the beach onto Knightstone Island itself, which is residential but also has cafes serving light snacks and refreshments. Walk around the perimeter and you will find a causeway, accessible to walk across according to the tides. At the other side of the Causeway you will find a small rocky beach with tidal rockpools ideal for exploring.
